The Blessing of the Animals originated as part of the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals. One of the most beloved Catholic saints, St. Francis was known for his affection for animals. He believed that all creatures were his brothers and sisters
On October 2nd, Lakeshore Pet Boutique will be hosting The 3rd Annual Blessing of the Animals. This is one of my favorite events of the year. We will meet at 2pm in Beery Field in downtown Douglas. Pastor Sal Sapienza from the Douglas Congregational United Church of Christ, along with Ginny Mikita will officiate again. Uncommon Coffee Roasters in Saugatuck has partnered with us each year and will once again provide coffee! For everyone’s safety, we ask that all pets are kept on a leash or in a carrier. All are welcome!
